Lee Tomlin's double inspired Rushden to a 3-2 victory over Tamworth at Nene Park.
Justin Edinburgh's Rushden outfit went ahead after four minutes courtesy of Tomlin, who drilled in from the centre of the penalty area.
But the hosts` joy was shortlived as Tamworth striker Nick Wright equalised four minutes later from close range.
Tamworth's Simon Russell was foiled by Nathan Abbey before Tomlin restored Rushden's lead in the 17th minute when he curled a right-foot shot into the bottom right-hand corner.
Cliff Akurang almost extended Rushden's advantage but he was thwarted by Sam Gaughran while Tamworth's Michael Blackwood and Tom Shaw flashed shots over the bar.
After the break, Gaughran denied Rushden's Max Porter while Craig Farrell volleyed over the top in the 72nd minute.
But Rushden wrapped up the three points in the 78th minute with substitute Aaron O'Connor tapping in from close range before Richard Tait bagged a late consolation for Tamworth in stoppage time.

But midfielders Rob Wolleaston and Nicky McNamara are back in contention after recovering from knee operations.
Tamworth defender Michael Wylde is likely to be out for four weeks with a broken cheekbone.
Danny Andrew is in line to replace him but skipper Chris Smith (heel) is set to miss out again.
