Gareth Taylor's header earned Wrexham a 2-1 win against Grays at the Racecourse Ground.
Wrexham's Christian Smith opened the scoring after just five minutes when his drilled 30-yard shot flew in.
The home side continued to push after taking the lead but Grays equalised in the 13th minute. Glenn Poole found Jamie Slabber, who slotted home to level the scores.
The goal shook the Red Dragons into life, who peppered the Grays end but were struggling to hit the target.
But in the 39th minute Taylor did find the target, his header into the top-right corner putting Wrexham 2-1 up and earning them the victory.
Things got worse for Grays in the 71st minute when Glenn Poole had to be replaced by Sam Cutler having sustained a serious injury.
PREVIEW: Wrexham midfielder Silvio Spann is suspended but defender Sam Williamson (hernia) is back in contention having made just two starts this season.
Matt Wolfendon could also return after recovering from an ankle injury that has limited him to four games so far.
Grays goalkeeper Preston Edwards serves a one-game ban for his red card during the 5-0 defeat by Oxford.
He could be replaced by Lloyd Anderson who was brought in this week from Margate by boss Julian Dicks.
