Adam Tann was denied by the woodwork as Histon and Wrexham played out a goalless draw in the Blue Square Premier.
The Histon midfielder came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock after 16 minutes as he got on the end of a Gareth Gwillim cross only to see his header rebound back off the post.
Frank Sinclair headed over from 12 yards and Wes Baynes crashed a 25-yard effort wide towards the end of a low-key opening period.
Gwillim tested Chris Maxwell from 20 yards after the restart and Baynes again came close, this time with an angled drive.
Late on, Gwillim had a 30-yard free-kick saved by Maxwell and Gareth Taylor came close in stoppage time with a 20-yard shot that found a way past Danny Naisbitt but also went past the upright.
