Well three games have gone in such a short space of time and now everyone starts to see how the league is panning out. Surprise surprise Oxford and Luton are up there, but they have done well with the enormous pressure that will follow them all season.
Their fixture on Tuesday 8th September will be a very interesting affair, certain to be a great crowd which will do the Conference the world of good. We have started with a win, draw and loss and lying in tenth position, but now we have three tricky away games so we need something on our travels otherwise it puts pressure on our home games.
The most interesting point is no team has got maximum points from three games and like i said before there are no easy games this year home or away.
The teams that have got promotion want that first win as soon as possible, but so far only Tamworth and AFC Wimbledon have achieved this. Gateshead played very well at the weekend and Hayes held one of the top sides Stevenage to a credible draw so the confidence is still there and has not been damaged.
Looking at the goal scoring charts, Constable, Wright, Marna and Taylor are off and running, but top of the charts are Perry and Holroyd with three a piece. All strikers like to bag a goal in the first three or four games to make them relax a little. Remember we are a rare breed!!!
Well last but least the fair play league. A few have been sent off, but not as many as last year which is a good sign, but all we see and hear at the moment are the Officials.
We have had two poor ones and the consistency seems to change week in week out. I would not be a referee for love or money. They do not enjoy themselves; they are robots being controlled by assessors.
There is no banter and freedom to make their own decisions. The next target for managers and clubs will be 10 games and i think that will create a more telling picture for what lies ahead.
