The race for Non League Football Live's golden boot has heated up this week as Oxford United's James Constable and York City's Richard Brodie have been in fine form...but there's one small obsticle...removing former Aston Villa striker Stefan Moore from the top.
Both Constable and Brodie have been banging them in during recent weeks, it was a double brace against Ebbsfleet United that took Constable to the top of the Blue Square Premier scorers chart this weekend.
Both Premier strikers will be subject to plenty of attention in January that's for sure but if anyone is to leave, it will surely be Richard Brodie. York City have made no secret that they expect their young striker to enter the limelight whilst Oxford United have built their season around the likes of Constable and will not be prepared to depart with their stars under no circumstances.
So....the golden boot of non league...it's here, Non League Football Live will be presenting our own official golden boot trophy and a bottle of champagne to the leading scorer within the top 3 leagues of non league football come the end of the season.
Whilst all the talk may be about Constable and Brodie there is one man in particular who has gone under the radar of most, former Aston Villa striker Stefan Moore.
Currently with Halesowen Town in the Zamaretto Premier, Moore has bagged 20 goals this season, helping the Yeltz into 8th place, had they not received a 10-point ban, Halesowen would be sitting in 2nd place this evening and a lot of their success is down to the prolific Moore.
Moore, 26, has played in the UEFA Inter Toto Cup with Aston Villa against Swiss side FC Zurich and French club Liile. He scored his first Premier League goal on his debut replacing Marcus Allback with an 18-yard screamer against Charlton Athletic in the 2002-03 season.
A knee injury caused Moore an extended lay-off and by the 2003-04 season Villa had ramped up their quality which made it hard for Moore to regain his place.
Moore then left for Millwall on loan where he gained more European experience playing in the 1-1 draw against Ferencvarosi in the UEFA Cup first round, soon after Moore sturggled to regain his fine quality that thrust him into the Villa squad and then moved onto Leicester City, QPR, Walsall, Port Vale and Kidderminster Harriers.
Halesowen Town took on Moore at the start of the season, sinc then he has scored an astonishing 20 goals in 18 games.
At 26, Moore will almost certainly step up into a higher league, which could leave the golden boot race wide open, of course there are the likes of Charlie Sheringham in the Blue Square South, Ciaran Kilheeney in the Blue Square North and plenty others who will enter the fray, but for now it's the Premier hotshots, Constable and Brodie who are chasing down the former Aston Villa striker Stefan Moore for the Non League Football Live golden boot.
